Vehicle Checkpoint.

This morning Fylde Rural Task Force launched Operation Irongate in Clifton with the assistance of Fylde Council.

Operation Irongate involves vehicle checkpoint sites based around rural locations and the main routes in and out of Fylde.

The Operation aims to target those travelling into Fylde to commit crime along with the Fatal Five - driving under the influence of drink/drugs, careless driving, speeding, using a mobile phone whilst driving and wearing no seatbelt.

From being at the checkpoint for just over an hour, here's a snippet of what we got up to:

- Multiple vehicles stopped and documents checked

- One driver arrested for drug driving after testing positive for cannabis

- 3 males and 1 vehicle searched resulting in a quantity of cannabis seized

- One ticket issued for driving without due care and attention

- One community resolution issued

- Numerous intelligence reports submitted

Operation Irongate will continue at different locations on a monthly basis. So if you're stopped and spoken with - don't be offended, we're just doing our bit to make the roads of Fylde safer for our community.
